You can swim out to the reef and snorkel and, if you are into scuba-diving, there are several dive centres in the nearby village of Mahahual. Be sure to research Sargassum seaweed before planning a trip to the Caribbean.
Mahahual has a number of restaurants and souvenir shops, particularly busy on cruise-ship days, after which you might want to retire to your bit of tranquil paradise.
